VENUES - Indoor / outdoor. We do it all!

 
Softspot Disco can deliver your event in any indoor / outdoor venue or location, however large or small across Devon and Cornwall. Obviously your choice of venue depends on your unique event but we offer our guidance below as to your possibilities and limitations, and to the things you should consider, and maybe check on with venue managers. We can supply electrical power and safety lighting to difficult places.

Some venues may not be licensed for alcohol or performance, and some may have restrictions on things like sound levels and smoke (or haze) machines that may limit the appearance of the lighting effects.  Some have smoke alarms or sound limiter which cut the power.

Some may require sight of public liability insurance or PAT-testing. Softspot naturally has both of these.  Our main DJ is I.O.S.H. qualified for making risk assessments which we always do upon arrival if not in advance.

We recommend that you check on these and liaise with us, so that you do not meet with difficulties on the day. We would be very happy to discuss any of this with you in advance and do a site visit to inspect and advise..

Village Hall (community or similar rooms)

Village halls, sports / youth clubs etc. are particularly suited to local family parties and private events where you or your guests provide your own catering and refreshments (no need for alcohol license if not sold). These are usually reasonably priced and may allow you all day access. They may have a separate kitchen / servery.

 If it is suitably licensed you could get a local pub to do a bar.

School Halls

Primary:  Usually the Assembly Hall / gym. Obviously used for internal school events. However some allow private bookings much as village hall (above).

Secondary: These will usually be larger and will mostly have a proper stage for a larger disco or live band presentation. They may also come with some additional side-rooms.


Pubs

Ideal for local events. Could be free or very cheap especially if they are providing any catering, and obviously with a licensed bar. Pubs vary in size and private function rooms.

Hotels

Many hotels hold their own internal functions for guests, but also offer outside bookings for private or corporate events
They sometimes have their own function room, which may have a stage and some built-in lighting. They will also provide any catering and bar, and of course have the advantage of being able to offer guests overnight accommodation


Large Venues

There are many large sports halls in schools and colleges, conference centres and individual venues sometimes attached to large hotels etc.  that can be used for public events, icluding fashion sows, large private parties lor veven car launches. These will usually have built-in lighting. We then have the opportunity to expand and compliment this.

Outside

Softspot can present your event at any location indoor or outdoor.  We have provided events at all venues from outdoor marquee to swimming pool and even open fields. You may have an outdoor space large enough for a marquee (however small or large). Ideal for party gatherings under your total control without guests necessarily needing access to your private space. The event may be a public one in pub gardens or your own private property. If you have the perfect space at your disposal don’t let lack of power put you off as we can make this happen. You can literally party anywhere. We also work alongside other suppliers that can provide onsite temporary wash rooms and toilets.
